Spinning didn't kill me, but it also wasn't a very challenging class... I think Saturday's class might be a very different story :D
The weather is beautiful today, I won't lie, sometimes I wonder why I have to be indoors on such a beautiful day.

Wish me luck...
I have spinning class tonight! That is one tough workout, but I know it will pay off on marathon day!

Queen of the Hills
I am the queen of the hills :) I am an amazing hill runner.
Today was a 13 mile run from Southie to Charlestown. It felt great... plus I motored up those hills :D
Also, I had to use the loo in Charlestown, and the firefighters at the fire station very generously let me use theirs. Next week I'll bring them cookies as a thank you.

Training is in full swing...
Of course, I have a cold which is slowing me down a little... but it hasn't broken my spirit!
This morning I ran 6 miles with my running partner. Tomorrow I will do a short run on my own and ideally I will do a yoga class; however, if I can't breathe through my nose, I don't think yoga will be terribly effective.
I'm getting excited about my training. Today I watched "The Spirit of the Marathon" http://www.marathonmovie.com/index2.html
I thought it was OK. I enjoyed the coverage of the elite runners, I didn't find the "average" marathoners (nothing average about marathoners btw) terribly engaging. I just feel that their individual stories weren't sufficiently developed. But it was a good movie to get me revved up for training :)

Running up a storm!
I have been running a lot lately, but not posting much, I apologize. I've started a new job, and I don't have the time to post most days (given the choice of go running/go to the gym/go to yoga v. post on my blog, I always choose the workout).
Today was a wonderful run in a snowstorm. I purchased Yak Trax a few weeks ago, and I'm so grateful that I did. They are comfortable and perfect for running in slush and snow (I think on hard ice they would make things better, but slipping would still be a distinct fear). Anyway, I did 6.1 miles, most of which was in 3" of snow... it was like running in soft sand.
I feel great, and I'm looking forward to another run tomorrow night, and ideally a yoga class on Tuesday!
Which reminds me, I've been hitting up my Bikram yoga class a lot lately, and I have hit the camel pose (which has eluded me for ages) every time! It feels good :)

Merry Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas everyone!
This morning I had a great 7.25 mile run with my running partner :) I'm super excited, it went so well. It was also a hella hilly route. She's great, she's much faster than me, but she helped me up the hills. It's so different being the "slow" person in a running relationship. I'm really happy that I let my guard down a little to start running with this new running buddy.

A little disappointment... balanced out with some excitement...
I'm going to break my Hyannis 1/2 Marathon streak this year. This made me sad. I love this race, and have done it all but one year since I graduated from college. BUT, I'm going to Iceland that weekend... so I figure it all comes out in the wash... and maybe, just maybe I can run over there.........
